"Holy Communion is the surest and safest way to heaven" as St. Pius X told the church. In Holy Communion the faithful receive the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ.
First Communion preparation normally happens when children are in second grade. During the academic year, children learn about creation, sin, and redemption using our excellent Faith and Life program from Ignatius Press. The classes first prepare them for receiving the sacrament of Confession in the winter, and then for receiving their First Holy Communion a few months later, usually in May.
We have lively religious education classes with faithful Catechists, who will teach the children to pray, and study as a group for these sacraments. Parents also play and important role in helping their children complete assignments and understand the material at home. Parents who would like to prepare their children at home need to register their children with our program (in August) and state what resources they will be using to teach their children.
Contact our Coordinator of Rel Ed for more details about preparation and sacrament dates as well as to register your child for First Communion preparation. Registration for Religious Education happens in August of each year or no later than early September.
