Jesus told us that Baptism is necessary for salvation; He also invited the little children to be brought to Him. Through the beautiful sacrament of Baptism, our loving God welcomes your child into His family, filling your little one’s soul with grace and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. So too, the Church community opens her arms to your child and joins you in thanking God for the precious gift of this little one. Baptism is one of the most important events in the life of a Christian.
Jesus instructed the Church to teach and to baptize. Parents who request Baptism for their child must be adequately prepared, since the little one is too young to request the Sacrament. Here in our parish, Deacon Frank Papp and his wife, Barbara, offer the baptism preparation class. Classes are scheduled to be convenient for each family. There is no fee for the class.
Each class covers the meaning and history of Baptism, selection and role of godparents, responsibility of parents and godparents to fulfill the promises made on behalf of the child, and preparation for the Rite of Baptism. Bring any questions you may have about preparing yourselves and your child for this joyous and spiritually important event. Godparents are always most welcome to attend with you.
Please contact Deacon Frank to arrange for a Baptism Preparation class. We recommend that parents who are expecting a child schedule the class well before the child is born.
Adults who have never been baptized are cordially invited to meet with Father Tom. Please contact the Parish Office. For more information please see our "Want to Become Catholic?" page.
