Confirmation is the Sacrament which strengthens a Christian in the faith through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. In the Diocese of Lansing Confirmation usually takes place in 8th grade. Parents are welcome to register their children by contacting our Coordinator of Religoius Education (CRE).
Our Religious Education classes prepare children for reception of the Holy Spirit in Confirmation. Children are encouraged to go through the classes at our parish, which take two years and provide an enviorment of learning the requried material and completing assignments. Some children are prepared for this sacrament at good Catholic schools or may even be catechized at home provided they register with our Religious Education, which is done in August. All children must complete the same requirements, no matter where they are being prepared: 3 writing assignments (see below), 10 service hours, choosing a sponsor, participating in a confirmation retreat, and successfully pass a confirmation intrevew with Fr Tom or pastoral help where they demonstrate an understanding of the sacrament, the Holy Spirit, the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, prayers and memorization as required.
Adults who have not been Confirmed are welcome to study the Catholic faith and prepare for the reception of this sacrament of Christian adulthood. Please contact the Parish Office to set up an appointment with Fr Tom for more details if you are an adult.
